ADAM & THE ANTS "ant-rap" b/w "friends" 1981
the Ants do rap...well, psuedo rap i guess, its bloody good also!
none of that usual crap we hear in modern rap, just nice wholesome rap...
"b" side is full of name-dropping,but i doubt he even met any of the people he drops, but whatever, its not a vbad track neither
single reached #1 in the UK but only managed #43 here,as usual, the video is full of fun and colour as youd expect off these guys!

QUEEN "thank God its christmas" b/w "man on the prowl" 1984
"a" side is one of those 'forgotten' classics that you occasionally find with some artists...
"b" side is a track taken off their 'the works' album from earlier in that year...
single failed to chart here

THE ART OF NOISE feat: DUANE EDDY "dragnet(arthur baker mix)" b/w "dragnet(a.o.n mix)" 1987
"a" side is taken from the Dan Akroyd movie "dragnet", and as the artist name suggests, there are guest guitars from 1950s rock guitarist Duane Eddy...
"b" side is a remix of that track...its a piece of crap(like most remixes generally are!)
single reached a surprisingly high #11 here(funny, because i cant recall that fact!)

THE BARRON KNIGHTS "blackboard jumble" b/w "gobbledegook" 1981
these guys have had UK hits from the mid 1960s through the mid 1980s...
they were primarily a parody group of vocalists(sort of Weird Al but decades prior to him...)
"a" side covers Adam Ant's"prince charming",Cliff's 'wired for sound",Shakin Stevens' "this ole house"
"b" side isnt a parody, its their idea of self written humourous track..i dont like it!
single failed to chart here but did sell reasonably well in the UK from memory

ARTISTS UNITED AGAINST APARTHIED "sun city" b/w "not so far away" 1985
an anti-aparthied project put together by Steve Van Zandt taking aim at South Africa...
"a" side isnt too bad, i dont understand the full 'sun city' thing but i think it has something to do with a 'rich-white playground' in the country(jerome, help me out here mate?!)
"b" side is a 'dub mix' of a track on the AUAA album
single made it to #4 here

STAR SOUNDS aka: STARS ON 45 "stars on 45 pt.I" B/W "stars on 45 pt.II"
this was the original stars on 45 single....the one with the Beatle tracks...
pretty sure this group came from Denmark/Holland/Belgium, or similar north Euro country...
these guys were sound-a-likes, and when i say sound-a-likes, i mean deadringers for The Fab Four...
even George Harrison thought it was his vocals on the tracks as he tried to sure them for using his voice without permission...
the European Court ruled that Stars On 45 did actually record their own voices and didnt misrepresent The Beatles...
either way, this was a fun single and a huge worldwide seller reaching #1 not only here but in numerous other countries also...
below is the song in its entirity, the full 14minutes of it!

QUEEN "a kind of magic" b/w "a dozen red roses for my darling" 1986
"a" side is very average Queen, but its passable...
"b" side is a dumbass synthed up instrumental, which is a shame really, as the title could have made a lovely piano ballad with Freddie's lovely vocal range...
single only reached #25 here...the end of their chart career was fast approaching around this time!

SUZI QUATRO "devil gate drive" b/e "in the money" 1974
Suzi's signature tune IMO...
"a" side brought back fond memories of a summer by the sea at Gt.Yarmouth(east coast england) when i was around seven years of age...
"b" side is terrible IMO
single peaked at a well deserved #1 here, and rightfully so IMO

ADAM & THE ANTS "stand and deliver" b/w "beat my guest" 1981
this "a" side is my favourite Adam And The Ants song...
the album version of this "a" side is even better as it lasts a whole 5minutes...
love the video also, these guys were so original back in the day...
"b" side, love that one also...lots of their early punk influences all over this one
single only peaked at #12 here, whereas it topped the UK charts
