THE DRIFTERS "save the last dance for me" B/W "nobody but me" 1960
its pretty hard to go past any group that has had two legendary vocalists, especially Clyde and Ben....
"A" side is one of the greatest songs of any era of music IMO....
and the "B" side is just as good also...
i was surprised to find this one didnt get to #1 on the UK charts,instead it stalled at #2...it deserved to be a #1 hit!

THE NEW SEEKERS "you wont find another fool like me" B/W "sorry for you and me" 1973
a UK band formed after the breakup of Aussie folk group The Seekers by one of the members of The Seekers....
songs are still along folk lines here and arent bad but no-one can take the place of Judith Durham as a vocalist IMO
this one made it to #1 on the UK singles charts...

MANFRED MANN "sha la la" B/W "john hardy" 1964
one of my favourite 1960s UK groups....
i love Paul Jones as a vocalist, one of the best yet one of the most underrated of his era IMO...
as a huge fan, i cannot knock either track here, two awesome tracks IMO...
and like a lot of singles from that era, the "B" sides were often as good as the official "A" sides, and this is no exception!

CARL DOUGLAS "kung-fu fighting" B/W "gamblin' man" 1974
Carl was pretty much a "one hit wonder" just about everywhere....
the "A" side pays homeage to the likes of Bruce Lee...love that track.
the "B" side could almost be classed as "alt country" or "modern country" nowadays, i love that one also...
IMO, this guy had talent and should have at least had several more hits in his career...
this one peaked at #1 in the UK

moving up through the years now to the 1980s once again....
JO KENNEDY & PAUL KELLY "body and soul" B/W "rocking institution" 1982
"A" side was written by Tim Finn(Split Enz/Crowded House), it has a distinct Finn sound to it...i love this track!
"B" side was written and sung by Paul Kelly....not his usual vocal style or type of song IMO....but i love that one also!
songs were taken from a musical/comedy movie called "starstruck" which featured Aussie/New Zealand artists, i guess that means
it was an Aussie movie, but ive never seen it, i just remember the title....
as we were living in Australia by this time i'll include the Aussie chart position, which was #5

MOTT THE HOOPLE "roll away the stone" B/W "where do you all come from?" 1973
UK Glam Rock band who got their big break thanks to David Bowie writing their first hit "all the young dudes" and producing their material...
"A" side is pure Glam and i love that whole era of music!
"B" side has a definate blues feel to it, that track is cool also...cant say i love it as this play was my first time of hearing it!
the single peaked at #8 on the UK charts.

a UK trio who recorded a lot of standards...
we all know the "A" side as "a song of praise" or one of "spirituality"...
sorry, but i do not like this version at all...
much pefer the "B" side for what its worth...

UK singer/actor....
started in the late 1950s and released his most recent album three years ago....
i still cannot recall his name from my memory, nor can i recall anything he ever did that i have previously heard
"A" side has the same feel and sound to me as that "hundred pounds of clay" song, i like it
"B" side,we all know that song,he doesnt sing on it,its credited to Vivki & Joe Brown...wife or sibling i presume???, either way, i dont like it

SLADE "far,far away" B/W "ok, yesterday was yesterday" 1974
Glam Rock/Hard Rock band....
Noddy Holder has one of the greatest voices in rock IMO, yet he and his band werent really big outside of the UK...
you guys remember the song "cum on feel the noize" by Quiet Riot, right???, well, that was an early 70s hit for Slade first!
these two tracks were taken from a doco/movie about the band called "slade in flame"...
im a huge fan of these guys, loving the "A" side rock ballad...
i like the "B" side also...
