As close to true ambient music as I am ever going to get. Inspired by weekend trips to the Cedarberg Mountains in South Africa. Used to spend some weekends there under a blanket of stars, around an open fire and with the night sounds all around. A magical time for me. Track will be up in 15 minutes or so. Not included on the upcoming release but just one of many tracks just lying around on hard drives and USB sticks all over the place. One day I'll sort it all out.........http://auralscapes.com/ - PS - if you still hear the previous track I posted - hit F5. That should sort things out. If not, consult a psychiatrist.................

[quote=MAG2NYC]Holy moly!! I'm absent for a couple of days and look at what you guys do! *laughs* I LOVE IT!! Jerome, I'm not a musician, so I don't feel like I can provide any kind of useful feedback other than saying how much your music simply *moves* me. I love going to your link (http://auralscapes.com/) and just enjoying your newest creation! It's exactly the kind of music I love to listen to when I write.
SteveO and Zeus, I'm loving Serrie!! The videos are as wonderful as the music! I'm so happy that I get to listen to so many new things!! I have some new things I am excited to share, but I don't think they belong here in this thread, so I'm going to seek out their proper place! Thx honey - I am happy people get some enjoyment out of it or find a use for it (even as sonic wallpaper) - and you don't have to be a musician to provide feedback. Everyone is entitled to their opinion - good or bad. I am pretty direct in my reviews of other people's work, so what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Alright then, Jerome! I don't have any useful feedback on the music other than to say I love it! However, I do have to say that the new graphic design on the site is really fantastic! I liked the eye design, but this new design *feels* like your music - living, breathing motion. I anxiously await your next new composition!!
Hopefully I will get the whole site back up in the next few weeks. Just have to find the time to do everything. BTW the 'eye' design is supposed to signify yours truly 'taking the plunge' and finally releasing something - hence the diver. This is going to be the front cover of the CD. The eye represents imagination - all musicians live in their imagination/mind. You have to be a bit of a dreamer/nutball to come up with this sort of stuff. And the title, 'into imagined lands' again represents entering into something - putting your toe in the water, so to speak. The 'lands' part comes from the fact that the ten tracks on the album were all inspired by different places/situations and are actually derived from three separate projects I have been working on for some time - 'Mountain Mantras' - about an expedition to Everest, - 'Scenes from a Solar Cycle' - a musical journey through the seasons with different places in the world representing different times of the year - summer - the Sahara - winter - Siberia etc. etc. and finally 'The Hypnotic Motion of Tides' - a project about all things related to the sea. The idea was to give people a chance to sample work from all three on the first 'compilation' disc. If it gets any sort of response I will release the individual projects as well. Time will tell. It always does.

Another one up in half an hour or so - same page. This track is from 'Mountain Mantras' and is entitled 'Loss' - about the night Rob Hall perished on Everest after reaching the summit too late in the day. The idea popped into my head one night/morning after leafing through the companion book ' Everest - Mountain Without Mercy' You can see the original IMAX movie Everest on YT. Fascinating movie and if you can try and see it on an IMAX screen, so much the better. Spellbinding! The piece contains a number of unusual instruments - A Thai Dulcimer (don't ask me why - it just seemed to fit) - a Novachord - the world's first real synthesizer - courtesy of the good folks at Sonniccouture, as well as some Cloud Chamber bowls and a Glass Armonica. The bass effects & bass lines were provided by Dave Sturt - a well known session bassist from London, and an associate of Andy Jackson (Floyd's sound engineer for many years). I think ZM posted a YT video of Bill Nelson - well that's Dave on the bass in the clip. Drums are by Marc Norgaard - a pilot and session drummer from Baltimore - a seriously talented individual, although this particular piece does not really display his talents to best effect because of the nature of the material. Some of the other tracks that are coming will showcase his considerable abilities. A class act.

Jerome, thank you for the background on your composition, and for sharing the list of artists who contributed to it! I love this piece! I pulled up a photo of Everest and looked at it as I listened, and found that this conveys the frigidity of the mountain and the ache of loss (or the process of *being* lost?) incredibly well. I've listened to it four times since last night, and I find myself looking forward to being able to hear *all* of the compositions in their proper order back to back!! I can't wait to hear the next one!
Thx for the comments. You 'get' it. Working this weekend but will have something new up next week. Must still devote some time to reading your blog. Just very busy at the moment but will endeavour to do so next week. Always good to see what makes people tick. Oh yes, forgot to mention that the plaintive piano piece in the closing 'verse' is by Simon D'Aquino from Australia. Sorry Simon - the mind is going...........

Just read your 'Go Your Own Way' & 'Pompeii' articles. Very good. What you should be doing is writing a novel or offering your services to magazines for in-depth articles about real issues. Just my opinion. I think your articles are engaging without being self-serving or boring. There's some real thought behind the words. (unlike rap - sorry, but I had to say that) One thing that comes across is this desire to succeed. This seems to be a big thing in the USA. Everyone seems to be under enormous pressure to earn the right salary, have the right job etc. etc. I have never been to the States, so this is just my own perception and probably incorrect. I find in Europe people are just as ambitious, but they don't let it weigh them down. C'est la vie! But the one thing that comes through loud and clear - you are at a turning point in your life. You have made a conscious decision to change the flow of events. As Bob Dylan once said 'freedom is just around the corner for you'...........try promoting your blog a bit more - you might be pleasantly surprised at the result. I think it's very good - and above all else - very honest. Something that is in short supply worldwide.
