Some good points have been made, but it doesn't make it sound any better.

What you just said is paradoxical in a way: electronic music should basically be the music that have the better sound because it's all computerized, no "bad" recording or playing; kind of "pure sound". But in an other way, nothing is more artificial, so it's the worst sound compared to real instruments and the talent playing it.

People say that electronic music isn't "real music" simply because it does not suit their tastes.

i think its seen that way because now anyone can make a track.. anyone can take a bunch of things and mix it all together and wala a funky cool track
any human with half a sense of rhythm, some fingers to click and an ear or maybe even two can produce and send out a decent electro track problem is most of those people cant even play a single instrument.. i know its not all of them, its just mostly most all of them that cant

well. Studies were done on pure electronic music, and the results were kinda disturbing.
Your brain tries to identify things. Hit with stick. String vibrate. Etc. So... when it's all electroid - even if it sounds like real instruments - it promotes unease and even, bion, violence. Truth.

Other than voice, every instrument is a human creation, and therefore creates a non-natural sound.
Electronic music has never come close to generating unease in me, far less violence. Must be something wrong with me...

What is electronic music then? A "label" for bands using electronics? Or a typical style?
Artists like Björk,Massive Attack and Depeche mode uses real drums, real guitars and real striings and cellos, still they are labled as Electronic. In the 80s bands like New Order,Simple Minds and Ultravox were considered synth (electronic) still their line-up was drums, bass, guitar, and instead of Deep Purples electric organ, they used a synthesizer with starnge sounds. Just like bands in 70s like The Sweet, Alice Cooper and Roxy music were experimenting with... If anyone likes dancemusic, they sure realize that they most uses electronical instruments. This discussion sounds like 1981 for me.When the synthpop had a breakthrough and the older generation, as always, didnt really like progress. Today 30years has passed and rockbands like U2,Coldplay also uses electronical instruments/effects/noises/ computerized drums etc... ![]()

Well. as Crazy as it sounds, electronic music is probably one of the more complex genres... I´m not talking about House or dance when I say this, although I´m currently grooving it to "This City" by Pezzner, no, I´m talking about the electronic where the rythms gets under your skin and makes your mind drift in three directions at the same time. Its hard to defend electronic music because most people know very little about its production process and the skillset it takes to make it sound good.
The lable "Electronic" is in it self a crude, or somewhat overtaxing word that might make people think of various things at the same time... this is also a source for confusion if you ask me... and probably why I always take care of explaining which electronic music I´m talking about at any given moment. But never mind. I think this post was mostly to credit the complexity of all electronic music, and make a point of why its difficult to explain it to most people. |
