Hey R,

Good to hear from you so soon ! You have an impressive collection.....6,000 cds !!! I only have a total of 2200 or so made up of cds (700), vinyl records(800) and the rest in taped cassettes (600) 45 min. on each side. Oh yes I fogot my collection of 45s, not many maybe 150 or so.

I also listen to everything.

What are some of your favorite artists ?

Can't name a group but I can name favourite performances. The 30-minute "Endless Night" on Return To Forever's live album is astonishing even if the disc tracks the tune wrong (the intro of the song is more than half the previous track). Sun Ra's "Friendly Galaxy / Third Planet" from the expanded edition of Disco 3000 is probably the favourite of all time ... a very familiar song sandwiching a song that he played maybe four times in his entire career, and it's just piano, traps, tenor, and trumpet -- completely astonishing in the way it was put together and I can't think of anything that really equals it. For big band stuff, Alan Silva's "Seasons" is the one to put on and stand back while the stereo explodes -- a 50 piece jazz orchestra playing a visual score -- 2 and a half hours! Nothing else in the world like it.

I know theres a good chance you all have possibly heard of allan holdsworth and some may have even heard his music and for me it took me about four or five listenings of his music before i really started to get it but once i did it was this flood of excitement and its been one of my biggest inspirations to this day. its that music that grows on you. like a month or so ago i listened to house of mirrors and it was like an out of body experience or something religious or like two minutes seemed like forever just wonderful when your in the mood for it especially keep an open mind and it will be especially rewarding. give it a listen.

I can't think of a favorite group, but i really love the jazz/rock fusion that Santana played during the 70's.
Especially albums like, Illuminations, Love Devotion Surrender(in which he played with John Mclaughin) and Swing of Delight,
stands high on my list of favorites.

Try 'Oneness' by Carlos 'Devadip' Santana. Superb. (I think it's subtiltled 'Silver Dreams - Golden Reality' or something along those lines).
