I think it is pushing the boat out a little too far to say that Yoko Ono would count as a Japanese artist

Because

  • She issued the majority of her material whilst living in the UK or The USA
  • She issued most of her material through western record labels
  • She guested on John's material and that is sure as hell from the West
:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:Cool
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown.

Although formed in Australia, I thought the Finns were Kiwis, so I've put them under NZ. I have a couple of Crowded House albums, which I like very much.

I'll check out some of your recommendations...

Indeed she does, but since John was the major creative force, all of his output is UK for me.

It gets difficult to categorise, because both Free, & Can (amongst plenty of others) had Japanese members, but the bands certainly wouldn't count as Japanese.

Oh, those pesky grey areas...

yes tiggi, the finns are new zealanders, and they continue to reside there, maybe i shouldve termed them 'australasian' artists, regardless of their country of origin they (neil and tim) are two of the best songsmiths in the business

as a guess i'd say that 40+% would be UK artists, 40+% US, 10-15% Australasian, with a further 2% being from elsewhere as a guess??!!
