One of the best ever and we are blessed to have him in our era: Wycliffe Gordon--It'd be enough if he was just a leader/player, but no--he's an instigator. Tough to talk about him without getting gushy but he's worked most of the areas of soul and jazz with mastery, and his Gospel album was a prize-winner. Singers love to work with him, 'cuz that 'bone sings. He's written, is a multi-instrumentalist including the didgeridoo, and a full-on graduate/post-grad level instructor.

A man accustomed to hear only the echo of his own sentiments, soon bars all the common avenues of delight, and has no part in the general gratification of mankind--Dr. Johnson
