Here's one such in an interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Db_lQAqzQUU And here's another perf: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMuK4nFZo4U << Funk jazz done right...not a bad singer either--she's emphasizing that recently. 'Bones: Instruments and players - jazzboCR - 22-02-2015 By most measures the finest jazz 'bone player of the post-War time and absolutely the best on valve trombone: Bob Brookmeyer. Liked and admired by other contemporaries, mentor and teacher to many, he lent his time and talents to a wide variety of projects including the very commercial (took some heat for those). A monster player who's also a gentleman is not common--he was. His Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Brookmeyer His descriptor on a 'Bone-specific Site: http://www.trombone-usa.com/brookmeyer_bob.htm His memorial Site: http://www.bobbrookmeyer.com/ His discog: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/bob-brookmeyer-mn0000051233/discography/compilations << His individual albums stayed very good to the end but try one of the compilations/2-fers first. Music ends at 3:55; convo thereafter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_8--v60BrA << W/Jimmy Giuffre's band--a bit more exploratory https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCvoTHa5dIM W/ Jim Hall << 2 greats having a bit of noodling fun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wjq3L2J2zuQ << Big band setting, with Mr. Brookmeyer arranging and playing 'Bones: Instruments and players - jazzboCR - 23-02-2015 One of the best ever and we are blessed to have him in our era: Wycliffe Gordon--It'd be enough if he was just a leader/player, but no--he's an instigator. Tough to talk about him without getting gushy but he's worked most of the areas of soul and jazz with mastery, and his Gospel album was a prize-winner. Singers love to work with him, 'cuz that 'bone sings. He's written, is a multi-instrumentalist including the didgeridoo, and a full-on graduate/post-grad level instructor. His Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wycliffe_Gordon His Site: http://www.wycliffegordon.com/ A discog--love the headline note: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/wycliffe-gordon-mn0000960062/discography Some tunes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epHkaOxZhV8 << been working/touring with this terrif Australian sax player, Adrian Cunningham q. freakin' v. << great solos; pithy comments https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xR7x04EhL0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgsMkNevPNgv << Down home, just dropping in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTQkTLKA8Pc << lovely medley format https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MB3T0Pq-dE << I think Wynton Marsalis has several elements of the insufferable gasbag but as long he's kept this Ork alive and thriving, I'll forgive him his excesses.
