Welcome aboard he Great MD, John! Crazy Horse has good advice! Either that or play an acoustic. I heard years ago that you could virtually sound proof a room by affixing empty (no eggs in them) egg cartons to the walls and ceiling...don't know how you line them up...what a foolish idea...lol
