MONDO ROCK "the greatest" cd,2004.

Aussie pop/psuedo white boy soul stuff from the 1980s...
vocalist Ross Wilson had been around since the mid 1960s, in two or three blues/blues rock bands...i didnt like much of what he did prior to this band, but obviously there are some tracks throughout his career that i like...his biggest band Daddy Cool were the biggest selling Aussie band out here until AC/Dc came alon, so you can imagine the general popularity of his through the decades...i believe he released another solo set only two or three years ago and is still touring here reliving his past glories as an artist(cant knock the guy for that i guess)...
anyway, this collection os a collection of all of the Mondo singles from the 1980s plus a couple of album tracks to fill up the alloted space on cds....
some nice tunes on here,especially in the first half dozen or so tracks and it does at times feel as though he is busting himself not to return to his old blues vocals in favour of the sacerine laced ones on here...these guys had a dozen or so top10 hits here over a period of three or four years,including one song that was initially banned on radio(come said the boy) which details a teenger losing his virginity to a more experiened female compaion,yep, the Catholic Church was up in arms when this was released,WTF i dont get it, its only a song afterall!!!!!, and that one is my favourite track here...they also do a jagger/richards cover here in "im free",showing that you can take the boy out of the blues but you cant keep the blues out of the man
although i do like this album it does score rather low for a so-called best of set, but it is still enjoyable for the most part IMO
