TRACIE aka TRACIE YOUNG "far from the hurting kind" 1984. #64UK.

Tracie's only album, although she released a couple of stand alone singles prior to the albums release.
Tracie first appeared on vinyl as a sixteen year old as backing singer on The Jam's "bitterest pill" single in 1982, she then performed backing vocal duties on The Style Council's debut single "speak like a child" in 1983, at which time she was signed to Paul Weller's "respond records" label.
PW wrote most of the albums tracks and produced the album and for the most part the album is very TSC sounding. Elvis Costello wrote one song for the album,the first single, "(i love you)when you sleep".
the album is loaded with pop/soul music with some tracks very Motown sounding, Tracie has a pleasant enough voice for this material, unfortunately the album does sound very UK 1980s 'white boy/girl soul' which does let it down a couple of points in the rating, overall though, it is reasonably good.
the album was released on cd for the first time in mid 2010 and contains ten extra tracks including the non album singles, a couple of remixes and an acoustic track of her second single.
the album has Style Council written all over it,so if you dont like their work around 83-85 you probably wont like this album.
