I’m indulging my new-found curiosity about the viola da gamba and came across this absolute gem of a concert. OMG – Jordi Savall is brilliant but so are the others in the ensemble. I just love the ancientness of it – I know – it’s probably not a word! And I love the vocalese – so very fitting. I am amazed at how this unusual instrument has grown on me (especially for the masters of innuendo).
I very much hope the ghastly parrot downstairs and its lawless owner are equally enamoured. The only way to mitigate the sharp shrieks is to create a barrier of other sounds! I was playing it traditional Indian music, out of my window, but then I figured it might as well be something I enjoyed.
