we never hear anyhting about SA on our news, which is surprising considering the amount of ex-pats who reside here.
how is the whole Covid thing going over there...deaths, infection rates, lockdown etc.
Lockdown has ceased to be, more or less. Still no cigarette sales allowed so everyone is buying them on the black market and paying ridiculous prices (and no taxes) - alcohol is sold from Monday to Thursday, restaurants are open but can't sell liquor (except as takeaways - not for consumption on the premises), we must wear masks in public places, aren't supposed to visit friends but can go to church (you can imagine the religious ceremonies going on!), beaches are still supposedly not open but everyone's on them anyway, certain protocols for certain businesses - some abide by them, some don't. Not sure anyone really has control of anything at this stage - pretty much a free for all!
I don't believe any of the numbers are accurate, but for what it's worth, we have 264,184 confirmed cases so far, 3,971 deaths and 127,715 recoveries. I'm sure there are many more cases that are unconfirmed as our testing is not up to scratch - we need an antibody test IMHO. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
