I'm a little surprised at the lack of love expressed for the Syd Barrett years (Piper & Saucerful). Easily the most Psychedelic period of The Pink Floyd. Yes, I wrote "THE" Pink Floyd. I have always called them that simply because in every interview I have ever heard/read/seen, The band members themselves refer to the band name with the definite article.
I'd like to point out that the usage of "Thee" is nothing new. The 1960's saw several groups use "Thee" as part of their band name. Off the top of my head there was: "Thee Midnighters", "Thee Sixpence" (later to become The Strawberry Alarm Clock), "Thee Prophets". The 1970's saw "Thee Image". In the 1980's and 90's Billy Childish formed several bands beginning with "Thee".
