Australia Day
#1
Jan 26th 1901 was when Australia first got self rule over itself from the British, 72yrs after they settled here and made Terror Australis part of the British Empire.
its our version of "July 4th", all we need to do now is cut ties with the Monarchy and the Commonwealth, and replace the Union Jack on our flag....the winds of change are-a blowing and the Republic of Australia gets closer every year.
sorry Tiggi and everyone else from the UK....but we dont need you guys:hand:, we have more in common with the US than you.

ps. i was born in England and spent a good deal of my childhood there but it aint home.Cool

I guess that Oz see's the UK like we do in Europe.................it is something from the past and as it drags its feet and screams how important it is ................we take stock and realize that we can go on to success without it.........................Cool
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown.

I'm surprised Australia hasn't republicised already. What's keeping you guys ??

I'd also agree that the view of some elements in the UK that the country's past deserves some sort of respect is hilarious. I'm proud of plenty of inventions, or ideas, or cultural achievements which the UK has given to the world, but don't think our reputation for subjection & oppression is worthy of celebration.

I've never visited Australia, and probably never will due to my intense dislike of long journeys, but my nephew has emigrated there and the positive attitude of Australians is what drew him to leave. Your adopted country appears to have much to celebrate, so respect due...

There, didn't rise to the bait once :tape:

Have a good Australia Day, mate :cheer2:
