This is a multiple genre thread.... Meaning music lovers from all genres can post their opinions.

Please post who you think is the best drummer and why? Better also state which genre he/she mainly plays.

I'd have to say Tomas Haake of Meshuggah... An avant-garde metal band. I say this because he has the ability to play a simple 4/4 beat with his hands, while playing an immensely technical 23/16 beat with his feet. That takes more coordination and skill than I'll ever have.

Zach Hill of Hella/Chrime in Choir etc. He's a math rock/noise rock drummer. His footwork is just awesome and he's tremendously fast as well.

I tried to listen to Hella but was turned off by their newer stuff with the vocals... I like math/noise rock, though. I've got a Lightning Bolt album that I haven't listened to yet and a Don Caballero. Also Tera Melos, thoug they're kind of like a melding of post rock and math rock.
