what's for dinner/tea?
Noticed that most types of fish in the northern hemisphere have very little natural taste. Very bland indeed. The one exception is salmon. Fish in the southern hemisphere is infinitely better. You don't have to cover it in sauce to make it actually taste like something other than cardboard. I have tried buying fish from various different sources but it is always bland and uninteresting. You have to dress it up to make it palatable.

was just about to start preparing dinner this afternoon and one of Dani's daughters called me and wanted to know if we wanted to come over for a swim in their pool and have dinner...
no need to ask twice, especially about a swim on a hot day...
ended up having BBQ chicken and salad.

Joining a few friends for Christmas lunch – we’ll be dining in a large room with wide open windows, etc. Not sure exactly what’s on the menu other than what I’m contributing which is individual Yorkshire puddings – room temperature with spiced beef and a creamed horseradish filling, as well as a potato salad and the inevitable pavlova!

My daughter made eggs benedict for breakfast - her hollandaise sauce is the best - and she's also made millionaire's shortbread. May have to fast tomorrow!!

Eggs benedict - one of my favourites. BTW I was reading through this thread. You mentioned making tomato soup somewhere. I have a perfect recipe for you for a tomato soup that tastes like nothing you have ever had before. One of Gino D'Acampo's recipes.

Sounds good - thank you. Gino is a great anti-depressant!

Will post the recipe once I find the book - don't know where the hell I have put it.

Here's a ritual I go through every single day morning and evening - first it's feed the birds with leftover bread, rolls, croissants or breakfast cereals - next it's the feral cats in the neighbourhood - there's about 8 of them and in winter they consume a lot more food. Some are fussy and want chicken as opposed to cat food - sometimes I just buy a whole roast chicken and break it up and they love that - then it's the two dogs from down the road whose owner does not seem to look after them very well - I have a box of dog biscuits on standby for whenever they decide to turn up and a bowl of milk at the front door from time to time. Can't take them round the back because all hell will break loose when the cats see them or they see the cats. I am seriously considering guided tours for the Disney safari experience!

BTW Ruby, what is millionaire's shortbread - never heard of it???

just allow enough room in 'The Ark 2.0' for other animals when the next Biblical flood happens.
