Covid-19

The most dangerous time for this thing to get out of control again is when they end the lockdowns. People will go bananas. And so will the virus. As sure as eggs are eggs, even ones in Easter!

^China's numbers have been steadily creeping up I see.

I don't think we've seen anything here yet - unfortunately. And people are already very restless - understandably so - desperate conditions for many of them and not going to get better for anyone for a while. It's heartening though to see how many good Samaritans there are out there who are willing to put their hands in their pockets, at this point - the worry is that ultimately, hardly anyone is going to remain unscathed financially and it's inevitable that donor fatigue will set in. It's a stuff-up of epic proportions. There's talk of easing one or two of the more onerous restrictions at some stage (everyone's hoping for alcohol to go back on sale which probably won't happen, especially since curtailing sales has had a positive impact on crime stats - our murder rate is substantially lower - how's that for an indictment??!) but I can't see how it's possible to just end lock downs - they will need to be phased out and it will have to be very strategically managed.

On a lighter note - there was a little klipspringer (very small antelope) crashing through my backyard jungle today. It's quite steep and inaccessible, and fairly close to the urban edge but even so, there are houses in a road above so it must have come through a built-up area to get there - how weird! First hand experience of creatures claiming back their turf!

Years ago my folks lived and worked in Botswana. They lived right on the edge of a nature reserve. It was not uncommon to see a giraffe on the back lawn.

little bit of trivia I read years ago is that Giraffes and humans have the same amount of neckbones

Neil Young's 2018 album "Colorado" included a song called "shut it down",
the lyrics just fit so well with whats going on now that he has released it as a single complete with video of the world today.

We are not in lockdown, we are in rehab.  Confused
The most searched question on Google by South Africans last week - 'how to make alcohol'. Lol!

or alternatively:

Scissors cuts paper.
Paper covers rock.
Rock crushes lizard.
Lizard poisons Spock.
Spock smashes scissors.
Scissors decapitates lizard.
Lizard eats paper.
Paper disproves Spock.
Spock vaporizes rock.
And, as it always has, rock crushes scissors.
