Weak excuse for a best of but at least they didn't title it Greatest Hits, cause it's not. Only a few were. Unbelievable there was a Volume 3. This is a poor compilation of these Manchester boys, formed in 1963. With their debut single of I'm Into Something Good hitting #1 in the U.K. and #13 in the U.S. they were off like a rocket. Their first #1 in the U.S. was Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter which was never even released as a single in the U.K. The group was a much bigger success in the U.S. than in the U.K., but their fall came as fast as their rise, reaching their peak around 1966. Lead singer Peter Noone left the group in 1970, but it was a good run. The few covers of classics on here was a big downer. Kinks/Hollies/Yardbirds, there oughta be a law. But I at least got one 3 out of it.

Canadian AOR guy, 4th studio album, debuts at #1 in the U.S. with an album of almost all covers of standards. It's not just America going nuts over him as the #1's in numerous countries are stacking up. No doubt the guy can sing and is an excellent performer, I just don't understand why they can't come up with original material. The song choice here is good, but some standards should just be left alone. Frank Sinatra comparisons are the norm, but there's only one Frank. The title track is the Van Morrison classic, and come on, seriously, how are you going to better that? At least the lead off single of Haven't Met You Yet and my fav of Hold On, Michael had a hand in creating.

Columbian born pop diva makes another splash. Listing her favorite bands as (are you sitting down?) Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Police, Nirvana, and the Cure, I guess she failed to pick up any influence from them. This is her third english language album after topping the latin music charts with previous efforts. This dance oriented style is not my type of music, but there was one standout on here for me, with the track of Gypsy. The live performance video makes it that much better. I didn't know she could sing without shaking her booty. More stuff like that and I could even become a fan. I love the latin/arabic music inflections on a lot of the tracks. The title track is already a smash hit, with the sex infested video having no affect, I'm sure. 3 tracks here are the spanish language versions of She Wolf, Why Wait and Did It Again which didn't make them any better.

The upset winner of last seasons American idol makes his debut. I say upset even though not to me. Everyone expected glam boy Adam Lambert to take it, but Kris was better for me. Not out of all the contenders but of those two. Allen writes most of his own material, but not the lead off single of Live Like We're Dying which was released in September but not much of a splash.

And now we get last season's American Idol runner up. His release is hot on the heels of winner Kris Allen. Still competing I guess. No denying Adam can belt out the tunes doing some classy covers on AI, but this album doesn't do it for me. He has an excellent vocal range. A nice selection of covers with the best being Muses Soaked.,I think this guys sounds remarkably like Freddy Mercury on a lot of this I'll leave that to you. My brain must be playing tricks. Other than that great track, just average and below that songs. The lead off single is the title track which does nothing for me. Closing track is from the film 2012.
