The sound is starting to get stale. Album #7 still reached #2on the AC chart, so apparently the fans were still there. Certainly no classics on here as with previous efforts, but The Work Song was still a strong single at #2 and is indeed one I can whistle along to.

Andy Williams - Get Together With - 1969



Let's face it. Andy Williams is good for 2 songs. The classics Moon River and Born Free. Sadly neither of those are on here. A mixture of old standards on side 1 passed the test, doing what he does best, movie themes. On side 2 he attempts to tackle some more current pop hits of the day, amd meets with total failure. For the most part the song selections was fine. Just not for Andy. I guess this was an effort to expand his audience, but I can't believe it was successful. But hey, what do I know? This was his 14th gold album, reaching #27 on the charts. I did like his tv show where many top artists of the day made an appearance, and he did bring us the Osmond Brothers who appear on some tracks here (#6, #11) doing backup vocals.

Rising from the folk/rock underground in NYC to challenge the British invasion, these guys racked up the hits during that era. When founder John Sebastian left the group in 1968, after this album, they attempted to carry on, but only 1 more album would surface. This is their 5th and includes some good stuff to me. There were no big hits, with She Is Still A Mystery reaching #27 and the album only peaking at #118.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Best Track - Younger Generation

Why must every generation think their folks are square
And no matter where their heads are they know mom's ain't there
Cause I swore when I was small that I'd remember when
I knew what's wrong with them that I was smaller than

Determined to remember all the cardinal rules
Like sun showers are legal grounds for cutting school
I know I have forgotten maybe one or two
And I hope that I recall them all before the baby's due
And I know he'll have a question or two

Second release in the U.K. and made it here as a U.S. release only 45 years later. Still sounds fresh. I never was crazy about Beatles covers, but there are a couple of exceptions on here. With seven originals and six covers this would be down there on my ranking of Beatles albums and I still love it. That should say something.

I had this album for years and still love it!
Boredom was one of my favourite tracks and I DO have to agree about :puke:Priscilla Millionaira which was, quite frankly, a piece of absolute crap!
