Vance Joy "riptide" single becomes longest running single in ARIA history
Melbourne singer-songwriter Vance Joyâs single âRiptideâ has set a record on this weekâs ARIA Singles Chart, becoming the single to have spent the most weeks in the Top 100 in ARIA Charts history.
Sitting at #85 this week, âRiptideâ is spending its 107th straight week in the top 100, knocking off the previous record set by Lady Gagaâs âPoker Faceâ, which spent 106 non-consecutive weeks in the top 100 between 2008 and 2011.
The song first debuted on the ARIA Singles Chart on April 29, 2013, peaking at #6 on February 3, 2014. It has spent five weeks in the Top 10 and a whopping 45 weeks in the Top 50. The previous best by an Australian artist was Gotyeâs âSomebody That I Used To Knowâ (#1 Aug. â11), which remained in the Top 100 for 89 weeks from 2011 to 2013.
