Hi, my name is billy and I'm a music whore
#1
Hello and good day, my name is Billy. I am from London and play guitar and sing in a band called 'the deadbeetz' https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Deadb...2193604625 Facebook link there Wink. I am here to share my original music and listen to other peoples original music. I am not that interested in doing covers, create your own i say, good or bad atleast something new has been created and your thoughts and points shared.

My band does indie, rock n roll music. We have six songs on soundcloud, please listen and let me know your thoughts (not promising I'll listen to them, but may help you vent your anger ha ha) https://soundcloud.com/the-deadbeetz-1/i...-come-down

Thanks for your time
see you about

Welcome to the site. I had a listen to your tracks (BTW I agree with your 'create your own i say, good or bad at least something new has been created' statement) BUT, and this is important. The mixing of the tracks needs a LOT of work. I appreciate that you have created original material - in fact I like it when people do come up with new stuff but you have to get someone to organize the mixing of the tracks. It's a disaster. Why do I say that? - well it sounds like each instrument is being played in a different location. Might as well be on another continent. There is a lot of music being created where musicians are on different sides of the planet and send their parts over the net etc. but it sounds like the parts you have created individually are on different planets. I'm not saying your music is bad - but it is badly mixed. For example, if you use a particular reverb setting then that needs to apply to ALL the tracks regardless of what foot pedals, synths, drums etc. they are using because otherwise it lacks cohesion. I am no expert in recording techniques etc. but that was the first thing I noticed about the material. Try using headphones instead of just listening through speakers. Headphones show up the detail. That aside, keep on composing - new and original ideas are in short supply these days.

welcome to MD....
I listened to your tracks also...
they sounded ok via the laptop speakers but once I listened again with the cans on my head I noticed that Jerome's comments were accurate about the mixing...

now, I know nothing about music other than I listen to a lot of it(usually two or more cds a day) and a good album will always sound balanced and as if the muso's are playing in front of me in my lounge room....artist like Dire Straits and Pink Floyd mastered that with perfection, im not saying your music has to be on that level but it does need tweeking to give cohesion to the overall sound.

good luck with what youre doing anyway...
its always good to hear original material with real instruments and not computer generated 'beats' and samples!

Cheers guys, really appreciate the feed back. And I have to admit 'violence is not the answer' actually makes me feel a bit disoreientated towards the end hahaha may need to go back to the mixing desk. Did you guys think that the mixing problem is only on 'violence is not the answer' or as well as the other tracks? V I N T A was rushed a little to get on, so would like to know about the tracks before. We are still learning with the programme, we could use a mixing or producing professional, they would definatley be well utilised. But at the moment we got instruments, passion and a lot more original songs to get down, so the constructive critiscm can massively help for the future sounds of 'The Deadbeetz'.

And hey, who doesn't want to sound as good as pink Floyd or dire straits. Aim for perfection, and accept everything before as the journey towards it. One step in on a marathon hahaha Wink

Thanks

Or Quincy Jones or Elvis Costello. I' ve known quite a few whores and they all aimed to to provide the best experience possible--a high bar is set. Good luck.
