Mingus released sixty or more albums during his short life span of only 57 years ! I would choose some later works - Changes 1 & 2, Cumbia & Jazz Fusion, Three or Four Shades of Blues, Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus (also known as Mingus 5), Let My Children Hear Music for starters. His concerts are great too with Eric Dolphy and Miles Davis.
