2017 "best albums" lists
#11
My own list – some that I wouldn’t turn my nose up at got left off, but on the whole, I think this will do – and a 'Top 14' it is, lol! If I haven’t already purchased each of these, I will do so at some point.

In no particular order …

  1. Lindsey Buckingham / Christine McVie – Lindsey Buckingham Christine McVie
  2. Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit - The Nashville Sound
  3. Penguin Café – The Imperfect Sea
  4. Béla Fleck / Abigail Washburn – Echo in the Valley
  5. Andrew Bird – Echolocations: River
  6. Tori Amos - Native Invader
  7. Robert Plant - Carry Fire
  8. Neill Finn – Out of Silence
  9. Avishai Cohen – 1970
  10. Big Big Train – The Second Brightest Star
  11. Kris Delmhorst – The Wild
  12. Bruce Cockburn – Bone on Bone
  13. Offa Rex – The Queen of Hearts
  14. Steve Hackett – The Night Siren

.Nice to see Thundercat is getting recognition !

LORDE is interesting ! Bowie said she was the future of music ! Ella is emotional on this Bowie tribute at or around the 10:30 mark ! I wanted to show the video and not just the audio ! Enjoy ! As you know I have a soft spot for female singers !

right, I listened to the opening track on each album/ep...

New Pornographers...................too much synth for my liking

Total Bettys..............................nice alt-rock sounds

The Courtneys..........................reminded me of 1980s band Go-Go's, not bad

Deap Vally................................hearing White Stripes/Jack White, I liked it

Cherry Glazerr..........................could almost hear Courtney Love/Hole

Daddy Issues............................punkish/grungy

Charly Bliss...............................annoying whiney vocals like vocalist for Altered Images

Widowspeak..............................loved the track that opened the album, "the dream"

Anya Merina..............................heard Lorde similarities, loved it

Diet Cig....................................I didnt like the track

I will certainly follow up and listen to the Anya Merina, Widowspeak albums for sure.
