I'm a huge fan of soul, funk, motown and old school r&b and i've been searching for a modern artist who could bring all of these genres back on the table for a long time, so when i randomly pressed on recommended videos on the greatness that is youtube a couple of days ago, i nearly jumped out of my chair of joy as i had fallen upon a hidden gem called Asa.
Asa is a Nigerian Soul singer who brilliantly combines great lyrics with a voice and muscial style that mixes the Groovy & Soulfullness of Lauryn Hill with the power & sophistication of Nina Simone. I Highly recommend you to give her a try, i especially recommend the songs "The Way i Feel" "Oré" and "Questions"
