You got to think of it this way. Metallica have and always will be a product of the times and what they do, they do well. (excluding St. Anger, it had it's moments but....) Anyway, Death Magnetic is decent. Look at any other mainstream metal band and see what they are putting out for albums and compare that to Death Magnetic. The riffs are solid, the songs are long and well structured. The only gripe here would be that Kirk has lost touch with his solo's.

Kirk's solos where one of my favorite aspect of old Metallica, and now...well like you say, the touch is gone in this album... |
