General Discussion about Your Learning Progress
#1
Just a general chit-chat thread about how people's learning progressing is going, regardless of what instrument you're learning. Can you play by ear? Are you learning sheet music? Do you want to have a moan or brag about your progress? (lol). Any tips you can offer or advice you want to receive? Just a general discussion on anything regarding your learning experiences!

Only one thing I know for sure about music - you never stop learning.

This is true, but I'd never turn down any tips, especially being a newbie. One of the biggest challenges I've found is balancing the concentration of learning with the relaxing and enjoyment of actually playing what you've learnt. If that makes any sense?!?

I'm extremely pleased today, as I've learnt the intro to Coldplay's, "Clocks," on the keyboard and it only took me 5-10 minutes after listening to it first. This was after 5 weeks of learning so daily practice seems to be paying off and I hardly had to look at the sheet music. Let's hope that I can still remember it tomorrow. lol.

Hi Ian,

The best thing you can do for yourself is starting learning about harmony. Harmony is the key to music, and its also the key to improvisation. The more you learn about it, the better musician you become and the easier it is to learn songs.

I always use the computer to enhance my sound the functions and manipulations are virtually endless. You are not limited by the sound effects in your amplifier or the sound banks built into your keyboard. I would be happy to collab with anyone needing help.
