Hello all, music has been a true passion of mine for over a decade now, not only as a listener but a player as well (guitarist for 11 years now). I enjoy listening to almost all genres, although the main two I prefer are metal and rap. My all-time favorite music group is Metallica, and for rap I enjoy Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Kanye West; as well as newer rappers such as Post Malone and Travis Scott.

Welcome aboard the great MD QMobs ! I enjoy sounds so music genres don't exist for me ! Recently revisiting Agalloch ! Such a great guitar based band ! Sad they have disbanded but I guess 20 years of great music had to end at some point.
Have you heard John Haughm's new band Pillorian ?

Welcome to the forum QMobs.
My brother is a scientist – he’s a very studious PhD who specialises in single cell organisms – a serious academic, a professor, that’s his life. He also absolutely loves death metal which is a total mystery to me! Lol! Just goes to show - when it comes to sounds, you never can tell who's going to like what! Neither metal nor rap get my personal vote, but it was quite interesting to watch the Metallica doccie Some Kind of Monster. Have you seen it?

I absolutely love that documentary, I can't count how many times I've seen it, and I'm lucky enough to have gotten my hands on a blu-ray copy of it! I get something new out of it every time I watch it, and I love how it goes in depth with each of the band-members' lives even outside of their music-making process. welcome to MD Qmobs....
ive read the comments you've posted so far and, although I may not agree with them, I am impressed... keep it up mate and stay around we need a "rap" person here because to be honest, we have little knowledge of the genre overall, if you can enlighten us go for it!

Thank you for the welcome, and people's differing opinions and views on music is yet another reason why it's my favorite form of art, so I look forward to these discussions! And believe me, there is a lot of rap that I see as unoriginal, annoying, and even mindless; but with it being one of the larger growing genres of music then I manage to sift through all of it and find some examples of musical genius.

Hey QMobs.
![]() Judicator's The Last Emperor Amorphis' Queen of Time Here're a couple songs from each album. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NilWQBDOJVU https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yr5pDE_n0SY https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Bz9uAOM4DHo https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Jg2VqUTNjsw I'm open to in-depth discussion too. Though I prefer giving and receiving music recs the most. Feel free to tell me what you think of these songs and albums if they interest you enough to check out the whole thing. Hearing what others think whether it good or bad is always interesting to me. (21-05-2018, 04:13)MythsOfMetal Wrote: Hey QMobs. Thank you for the welcome, and tbh I've never really delved into extreme side of metal or such, although I gave your four songs a listen, and I did enjoy them! 'Raining Gold' was definitely a high-energy track with crazy drums, and the guitar I enjoyed as well. 'Spiritual Treason' was also a great one, I enjoyed the fantasy-themed intro and sound the song had overall. The two AMORPHIS songs were great and powerful songs as well, I also really enjoyed the video for 'Wrong Direction'. If I had to give you an idea of my metal preferences, then I pretty much love anything Metallica (except for the Lulu album), Slipknot, Disturbed; and I'm enjoying some other bands such as Mastodon and Lamb of God.

Looking at those bands you like, I think you would like Overkill and Opeth if you don't already. Here's one song from each.
