Nitty Gritty Band Memorabilia?
#1
Just got stacks of old records from my Mom. Most of them are the old thick vinyl. I will index and post when I have time. In the meantime I am trying to identify the piece below. Not sure "When" it is from. Can't find a reference to it or find any duplicates. Trying to categorize all the stuff that I got and this was in one of the record boxes.

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - I'd classify them as folk/rock or country rock.

[/URL]Jackson Browne was a member of the band for a short time, as was Bernie Leadon, formerly of The Eagles.

According to Wikipedia, this album is best described as a country album, featuring as it does guest appearances from many well known country performers. The title song is an early 20th century hymn that became popular with folk performers and is now something of a folk standard. It was also picked up by such people as Johnny Cash - and, obviously, by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

This thread reminded me of this very early NGDB track - their first hit I believe - from 1966. What a fabulous year that was for music.

Be warned, though: this band's later stuff, though still really well executed, is a lot more country, which may be either a good thing or a bad thing depending on your tastes.
