Elvis, Beatles, or Michael Jackson.

Wiki is wrong! I have been a Christian since I was a child and I assure you
Christianity is not a religion. Christianity is a relationship with Jesus Christ.
With all his faults aside I have to give it to Elvis. He would call people out who called him the King.
He said I am not the King. Jesus is.

2...im a huge Presley fan, and when I read your post, I was hard pressed for about five seconds to remember the title of a Presley studio album that wasn't a soundtrack to a movie, I think Presley was known for his songs not albums overall

3...im sure that in the US you would hear Presley on the 'golden oldies', 'country', 'spiritual' stations, wouldn't you???

4...there are young people who know who Presley is because when I was at Graceland the visitors I saw were from ALL age groups...
and I'd be safe to say that of the 2 million people that visit Graceland every year probably half would be American...

Elvis is still hugely popular in the UK....

since 2000 45 Elvis singles have been re-issued over there..
4 have made it to the coverted #1 position on the singles chart
14 others have made the top10 and....
20 more singles have eaked in the top20...

one single that was remixed and used in a Nike Ad(I think it was Nike?!) was released as a single and made it to #1 in 6 Euro countries and also in Australia
that track was an old 68-69ish one called "a little less conversation"....
it is vastly superior to the original IMO(the Presley Estate don't release anything that isn't quality or will tarnish the Presley image)
here it is for you in case you haven't heard it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zx1_6F-nCaw video

a remix of another track from that period entitled "rubberneckin" also made the top 5 in several countries also...
heres the link for that one also...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DART7FA9Krs video

both of those track were huge disco/nightclub hits also...that put Presley back in the realm for younger listeners...

this one was also remixed for the modern generation and was a another huge 'club'hit...

Canadian circus troupe Cirque du Soleil who constantly tour the world with their shows have also released an album of Presley remixes
that they used in their dance/circus routines(they also released a Beatles one also and choreographed their songs into a themed show)...
families generally go to Soleil, so his music is being exposed to youngsters yet again...

back to the original question Isn't it fair to say Elvis Presley is much less popular than the Beatles nowadays?

I just think its "cool" to be a Beatle fan at the moment...
I don't hear many people say they listen to The Who, Led Zep, etc....but their remastered album always make the charts, so someone is listening to them?

and hey,
im not dissing The Beatles, I have all of their studio albums, I have everything McCartney was released as a solo artist(wings, classical, fireman, opera etc)
I also own probably half of George's solo material, a few Ringo albums and several of John's things also...

Didn't the Beatles have more top songs than either Elvis Presley or Michael Jackson? The Beatles were more innovative because they were songwriters and unlike Elvis, were very good at playing instruments.

Why do you think the Beatles, MJ, and Elvis are overrated?

CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:you are quite correct my good man....

three artists....
three totally different era's of music....
three different styles....

they cannot be compared in any way except how popular they were on the charts in their era....
and all three dominated the charts all over the world during the respective heights of their popularity...

Based on the charts, who would you say had the largest legacy in music out of the three?
