Flight of the Conchords
#1
Best thing from New Zealand since Dame Kiri Te Kanawa (I'll take flak for that). "Alternative" in that they draw from and pastiche/parody so many styles. They have done parodies of individual songs but their strength is putting a style to their comedic use...always with respect to the style itself. Here's a Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flight_of_the_Conchords and a discog: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/flight-of...iscography << only 5 CDs in 12 years because they craft their material, not just popping them out to catch a wave... Please don't dismiss them as a "comedy band"; their music stands on its own
Some tunes << not always "tasteful" but they speak the truth
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3omQikQYmgY << Bowie takes the hits/gets the plaudits
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGOohBytKTU << you listening, Barry White or Isaac Hayes * fans?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbbxA8a_M_s
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGoi1MSGu64
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlYkIJVguCU << sweet musical convo, with a twist<< he remembers; she remembers somewhat differently....
BONUS: a documentary/concert vid--enjoy!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OzAFoFMjTLQ

* For my fellow Isaac Hayes fans: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IzxHKI8PJE << Mr. Hayes was in total control of his sessions--nothing happened that he didn't want to happen

Yes...you will take flak jazzy!
The Finn brothers,Neil and Tim, are unarguably the best things to come out of "the land of the long white-cloud"

Their record says it all, from their almost 40 years of music crossing almost every genre thru their tireless and unselfish charity work and donations to match to the admiration they receive from just about everyone from McCartney down for their songwriting skills etc....

And their down-to-earth personalities that match their humble songs also.
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..."  -  Me 2014.

I knew this would draw a True Believer out. Got a few minutes to deliver clips of their (in your estimation) best shots?
PS I knew and admire the Brothers Finn--I was just looking to mildly provoke. All hail the Kiwis.

I'm not posting links I've already posted mate....
Go to the beginners guide threads as I've posted their complete discography there which pretty darn comprehensive if I must say so myself.

Yes you did and my bad for overlooking. Your Threads can be a bit overwhelming: http://www.music-discussion.com/showthre...wded-House and http://www.music-discussion.com/showthre...p-Tim-Finn and http://www.music-discussion.com/showthre...s-overview and http://www.music-discussion.com/showthre...-Split-Enz I guess I was looking for something shorter and simpler, a few paradigm tunes, you might say.
