You have to check Eric Solomon out if you like music. His voice reminds me of Gavin Degraw but with the funk of Maroon Five!

Posted by: MusicLover101 - 15-05-2008, 19:15 - Forum: Off Topic Chat - Replies (12)

Hello Ppl, I am a musiclover seeking more music to add to my library. I have pretty good taste in music and think it would be difficult for you/sum1/any1 to give me a good song that i havent heard b4. i like all kinds of music from metal(ex.metallica/sumpantera) to dance music(ex.bennybenassi,sumMadonna). And sum old stuff too like 50s,60s stuff from artists like richievalens, thesupremes, buddyholly. My Fav Song is Start Me Up by the rolling stones, sum other songs to give u an idea of the music i like that are my favs are, hot in the city by billyidol, hungrylikethewolf by duranduran, maggiemay-rodstewart,we didnt start the fire-Bjoel, twilightzone-goldenearring, returntosender-EPresley, Yup songs like that. Sum dance/girly songs i think are good are It's My Life-NoDoubt, Like a Virgin-Madonna, sum 90s dance. I dont know what else to put except I like music with soul, goodsound, goodbeat, and goodlyrics can make a crappy song good.i dont know i am a 23 yr old kid can anybody show me the way? lol thx n ltr.

Hi all

What genre would you class "The Transplants"?

I thought rock/metally at first, but then punk seemed right at a point

  What Is Good?
Posted by: userscjohnson - 15-05-2008, 03:18 - Forum: Off Topic Chat - Replies (2)

I'm in a rut with the music I listen to. Not that it isn't good, but a little too predictable now that I've listened to it as much as I have. What I listen to at the moment, what I want something similar to is frou frou, john frusciante, imogen heap, ani defranco, yeah yeah yeahs, fionna apple, regina spektor, blind melon. I like a range, the important thing to me is is it interesting when you listen to it, lyrics are second to music but I like something, lyrically, that isn't predictable-not a limmerick-not too "pop-ish". So, I'm looking for suggestions of what else I might like, or what do you like?

Hey,

I am Alex. I won't be so pretentious as to say that I enjoy all types of music, though I think I like a fair variety. I enjoy avant-garde music... Be it the chamber music of John Zorn, the grinding metal of Meshuggah, the rapid time signature changes (and musical style changes) of Mr. Bungle, or the noisescapes of Merzbow. I also adore progressive rock... Namely the band King Crimson (in any of its many lineups). Industrial music (old and new) is also a great love of mine.

That's basically it, folks. I sing in a band.

'New' BEACHHEAD tunes on the MySpace page
Posted by: Beach - 12-05-2008, 23:01 - Forum: Jazz/Big Band/Easy Listening/Soft Rock - No Replies

Gidday folks!
I've got a couple of gigs coming up in June and, consequently, have been hunting around for more material from my archives of the past 28 years of the band to both compile some tunes for the guys in the band (I'm using a 'house' rhythm section on a couple of occasions) and also to burn to CD and flog.
During my search, I came up with a cassette of ten songs from the residency that the 7-piece 'jazzier' version had at the Dry Dock Hotel in Balmain (Sydney) back in mid-1985. Hopefully, you will enjoy them if you get to have a listen.
I've put five of the tracks up on the BEACHBLUES MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/beachblues where you can have listen if you like and let me know just how shit-house you think they sound 23 years on. :coffee:
I've been busily burning CDs and run out of ink twice now printing covers and labels!:o_O:

  Your First Metal Band ??
Posted by: Tiggi - 12-05-2008, 17:54 - Forum: Hard Rock/Metal - Replies (110)

My first experience of Metal was with Black Sabbath (If they can be classified as Metal ?!). Got into their eponymous first album, and Technical Ecstacy at about the age of 15, which led me into loads of exploration of similar bands.

Don't listen to much of this stuff these days, but when in the mood, it still has its' place.

What was the first Metal band that you fell in love with ??
