hello im new to this forums

Hello all!

Sat, 27 Sep 2025 11:32:26 +0000

I am an 36 yr. old self taught beginner composer from Finland. I`ve been interested in music from an early age and I've been playing guitar and keyboards since I was 13. When I was younger, I was never very interested in learning composing theory, but in early 2025 I really got excited about it. My biggest passion is composing film music.

Hi Everybody!

Sun, 17 Aug 2025 17:29:26 +0000

Former radio DJ (USA) here.

Favorite music genres: Pop, Dance (80s/90s), Early (70s/80s/90s) Rap/Hip Hop

I'm also a huge fan of music videos - when they're more than just a "concert video" - but instead tell a story. My website https://ChrisBungoStudios.com is dedicated to filming locations and what they looked like "then" and how those same places look "now." I cover movies (as early as 1915!), TV episodes and... music videos too! I'll post a few in the forum to give you all an idea of what I'm talking about, so keep your eyes on the forums!

Hey everyone! Cole here, 37M =)

Sun, 03 Dec 2023 21:22:15 +0000

Heya! My name is Cole and I am 37 and have spent most of the free time in my entire life listening to music trying to find what I think are the best songs and albums of all time from every genre going back to the 1950s. As of 11/19/2023 I have checked out almost 72,000 albums. For reference I LOVE strong hooks and melodies most of all, so that's mostly what I'm listening for. There are currently almost 900 recommended albums on my website The Music Hole (http://www.themusichole.com) that I think are good front-to-back.

All that said haha I'd like to offer you folks some more focused ways to browse some of my suggestions! The first are three playlists I made recently, one for the 80s, the 90s, and Post-2000. Each one has 50 of my FAVORITE more lesser known rock songs/singles.

80s:
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/20nxiWXTOchD01Q7Pqjoyn?si=abf69bfa8e8b4d3d

90s:

Post-2000:
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6JH1T1T93U4Pst6ZovhUoc?si=8903d6ed67db417b

If you prefer albums I think a fun place for you to start is on a new page I created called “The Best Debut Albums of All Time”. There are currently 279 albums on there. I think it would be a fun theme to work with... checking out great debut albums, albums that I personally think are good front to back from throughout music history and various genres:

Excited to read some of the posts on here and I hope you like some of my suggestions!

Hello, hello.

Dudes and Dude-etts!

We are a Black and White Man with Technicolor Dreams.
Music has helped Us thru the Bad and Good times.

For Us it is both, the lyrics and the instruments that speak to Us.
Mostly the Instruments speak to Us and the words get in the way.

Thank You.
Love,
Uncle Thanky

A little awkward and shy…

Sun, 30 Jul 2023 02:54:14 +0000

…but glad to be here regardless. I’m Lysari. They/Them.

My music tastes are kind of all over the place if I’m going to be totally honest. I mean, I can go from listening to current pop-punk and rock to Broadway soundtracks to classical to 70’s pop and sometimes even boy bands like One Direction and/or BTS.

Things I like in general include Drew Carey, reading, writing, drawing, musicals, and gaming.

You gonna love me tomorrow

I'm a music addict Generally I prefer darker, moody songs from many genres ranging from metal to k-pop, especially those that don't fit in frames.
I'm also a music video collector (fortunately it's much easier now than it was over 20 years ago...), I love artistic MVs because I'm a graphic artist myself.

hello there!

Sat, 17 Jun 2023 04:10:17 +0000

hi everybody! i'm excited to be here

so the reason i joined this discussion page is that i kind of miss the days where all the internet surfing was at home, and then once you left your house you were kind of turned off from everything social media related. i'm younger so i've grown up being used to have access to full internet and social media 24/7 on my phone, and i feel so fatigued. so i've been trying out this kind of platform and want to meet and talk with people online like people used to. so hello

now as far as music goes, i like a lot. like,, a lot a lot.

these days i've been diving deep into the native tongues; de la soul, tribe, queen latifah, the jungle brothers, etc. i've also been watching some videos about the wutang clan and how they got their start and how they did their samples. super cool stuff. i HIGHLY recommend channels like digging the greats, polyphonic, and sound field for cool music deep dives. i would love to know if you have any other youtube recommendations for music history channels too.

besides that i've always loved older music. my favorite album is the zombie's second album odyssey and oracle (1968), so much so that i have a signed vinyl of it which is my most prized possession. i grew up on the beatles so of course i love them, but i've also learn to love king crimson, the everly brothers, dion, the monkees, stevie wonder, led zeppelin, the smiths, the cure, men at work, the police, the cars, alan parsons project, steely dan, funkadelic/parliament, michael jackson, roxy music, joy division, james brown, the pretenders,,,, i could go on for ages. i like a lot of music, and there really hasn't been any music ive hated because i try to find the good qualities of it all, even if it isn't something i would listen to daily

also i have some tattoos on my arm to pay tribute to my favorite groups! so far i've got nirvana, outkast, slowdive, rush, jellyfish, fleetwood mac, and paul mccartney. more will be on the way!

i also love slowcore/shoegaze. i'm in a band that started recently and that's the sound we're going for, but i'm having trouble finding decently priced/good pedals to help with that sound, so those recs would be appreciated too!

other genres i love are baroque pop (my favorite genre by farrr, love the left banke, the move, jellyfish, and the lemontwigs), slowcore, shoegaze, numetal (deftones, snot, korn, soad), 90s hip hop, new wave, house, kpop, alternative, funk, and way more. there's just so much to love.

anyways i'm going on way too long for sure. i find that i'm not able to talk with music in depth with a lot of my friends. not that they don't like music, but i feel like this is by far my biggest passion and just something i want to talk about constantly, probably so much i'd annoy others lol, so i'd love to meet and talk with people who share that strong passion too. feel free to message me to talk about anything music related. if i haven't already heard it, i'd be happy to take a listen

hope there's nice weather wherever you're reading this from! and hope you have a great day

-purple

Just wanted to say hello, and hope that some of you would consider checking out my music. I'm a one-man band and I don't have fancy recording equipment but I believe in my music and sharing it. So if you'd have a listen I'd appreciate it, I'm on just about every streaming service but here's my band camp site...
https://joerobinson2.bandcamp.com/

I like about every kind of music from the Eagles to Metallica, not too fond of rap or remakes. I watch a lot of tv and play games like fallout and WOW, I'm a big fan of anything Star Wars or Marvel/DC. Just wanted to share a bit more, I'm not just here to plug my own music although it's a big part of who I am.

Thanks and see you around,
Joe Robinson

Hello music lovers!

Hello music lovers!
I’m not a musician but I like any music that can be defined “refined” and that was intended to last forever. Unfortunately I know mostly only the old classics like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin albums, but I think there is a lot to talk about it, since here and there in your threads I can see a lot of references about the old masters of the past. I also have a Youtube channel that includes some original new music that my younger brother made: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCofiQTD...F1-GZJq1fw

Listing one’s favorites usually helps to “know” him, but I would have too much to list. Saying what single song or album I would choose as my fav wouldn’t say much (btw they could be Led Zep’s In My Time Of Dying and Roger Waters’ Pros And Cons). Perhaps the list below could help: I had in mind it as the 22 albums which I would put in a box that had to be explanatory even till the 22th century.

01 Beatles - Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
02 Beatles - White Album
03 Beatles - Abbey Road
04 Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon
05 Pink Floyd - Animals
06 Pink Floyd - The Wall
07 Led Zeppelin - II
08 Led Zeppelin - IV
09 Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
10 AC/DC - Back In Black
11 Metallica - Black Album
12 Alan Parsons Project - Tales Of Mystery And Imagination
13 Alan Parsons Project - Eye In The Sky
14 Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene
15 Velvet Underground & Nico - The Velvet Underground & Nico
16 Cat Stevens - Tea For The Tillerman
17 Supertramp - Breakfast In America
18 Nirvana - Nevermind
19 Guns N' Roses - Use Your Illusion I & II
20 Radiohead - OK Computer
21 Franco Battiato - La Voce Del Padrone
22 Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill

LIVE
1 Deep Purple - Made In Japan
2 Rolling Stones - Love You Live

ITALIANI
1 Fabrizio De André - In Concerto: Arrangiamenti PFM
2 Lucio Battisti - Il Nostro Caro Angelo
3 Lucio Dalla - Lucio Dalla
4 Vasco Rossi - Va Bene, Va Bene Così

21st CENTURY
1 Radiohead - In Rainbows
2 Amy Winehouse - Back To Black
