Most memoriable composer

I love Verdi Requiem. I went to see it performed at St. Pauls Cathedral in London, by the London Philiharmonia Orchestra. Very powerful piece of music, that will always stick in my mind.

So Verdi is my memoriable composer. Who is yours, and why?

It blew my mind away the first time I saw Holst's 'The Planets'. But asking for the most memorable composer is like asking to pick your favorite child. :lol:

I would agree with Dr Woot's verdict. Holst the Planets is my all time favourite. Mars, The bringer of war fills me with goose bumps. Then Jupiter, Peace. Music for all moods.

I wouldn't say JS Bach is my favourite composer, but he's the one that produced the most music that sticks in my mind. I'm always impressed by the vast breadth of his catalog, and like the idea that he constantly challenged himself when composing.

Seeing the Mass in B Minor performed at Canterbury Cathedral was a spell-binding experience.

I think that when it comes to symphonic pieces it has to go to Mozart, Beethoven, and Mahler.
On Piano it's Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Richter, and Prokofiev.
On strings it's Dvorak and Debussy IMHO.

Beethoven's 9th Symphony = Mozart's Symphony #40 + Requiem. I don't want to choose.

Verdi is great. I saw Aida in Verona's Roman Arena and it was awesome.

The 'Mercury' section of "The Planets" was used as a radio station logo music here years ago. And I think NPR used it for an opening theme somewhere. It is a great fanfare.
