I once had a compilation album of NWOBHM which came via Sounds magazine, and that had Toad The Wet Sprocket, & Sledgehammer on it.
I can remember precisely nothing concerning either. Fell out of love with HM at around this time (More likely 1979-1980, James).

Toad the Wet Sprocket was a NWOBM band? I thought they were a 90's alternative band.
Hmm, I just looked it up. Apparently there are two bands with the same name.

NWBHM is the metal from 1978-1982ish, Tig's correct. And it is all "real". And yes, Iron Maiden can be considered as such.
