in this day and age we have lots of music contests, you know the ones I mean, x-factor etc......but I was wondering if online music competitions will replace them and are as effective as those ones on tv.....what do you think?

The X-Factor & others are less about music and more about popularity.

there are a few talented people who enter those shows IMO, but they will be and are chewed up and spat out by the likes of Simon Cowell once he's made a million bucks off of them, then back they go to their everyday lives....
IMO those shows are all about making money for the producers and tv networks with little thought for the performers in the long run...i dont like them, i dont watch them
i mean, what are the contestants ever going to write about if they ever get a chance to write an autobiography?..."oh yeh, i started my career off on whatever show and had a few hits etc etc"
there is no way that their bio's will ever be as interesting as those of REAL artists who actually paid their dues and did it tough before they became famous and achieved success...
and who's to say those guys on those shows are really talented?
what is talent?
who decides talent?
there is no way the likes of Bob Dylan,Neil Young etc would ever win one of those shows, yet they have talent and have made it!
Christ, Elvis Presley couldnt win any local talent shows back in the mid 1950s in Mississippi or Tennessee, yet went on to achieve great success and sell one billion albums!

They are good. As competition makes one perfect and also gives the opportunity to know ones ability and flaws to work on ,

I can take them or leave them...lately I leave them.
