Does anyone know some good Bebop songs that are not ancient (maybe 5 years old max)? I've been looking on the internet but nothing caught my eyes so thought you guys might know some nice ones. :biggrin1:

First of all, welcome aboard MD, puiu! You have asked an interesting question..I am an avid jazz listener as well as other genres but I have never looked for modern bebop soongs! Most of the legendary bebop singers are no longer with us..and the modern singers tend to sing the old standards!..lol...however you may find some joy in listening to Cassandra Wilson, Esperanza Spalding's Radio Music Society album, Kurt Elling, Neneh Cherry's album The Cherry Thing and Sheila Jordan. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Ella, Betty, Sarah, Billy, Joe and many others are in Jazz Heaven.

Thanks for having me here Steve.

I know what you mean about them only signing to old standards. Nothing bad about that, but sometime i need something else, hard to explain what.. but i get tired of the same old same old. i think you get what i mean.

Your suggestions are nice, Cassandra Wilson has a great voice.

Great Be Bop can be heard from the the best at it--Ella Fitzgerald. She is still the greatest at be bop. Here are two of many she recorded. Enjoy!

Ella Fitzgerald – How High the Moon?
Ella Fitzgerald – Bop Boo Dee! (Scat)

My uncle was close friends with Roy and Jackie. Roy's sister, Irene, sang in my uncle's band in Detroit for about a year ('54-'55). They weren't bop though.
