So, I was searching amazon to see what their prices for Mahavishnu Orchestra stuff is as I've been saving up a bit this Summer and some albums I were expecting to buy didn't come to fruition (Either not released, not as good as hoped or just too expensive.

), and saw that their was a new album released in April. Its a bonus disk of "unreleased" material from the original concert that "Between Nothingness and Eternity" came from. I say "Unreleased" because I'm a novice on M.O stuff, so I'm not sure if it was leaked. But, I checked the "New Music in 2012" thread and there was no mention of it and Amazon only has 2 reviews of it. Kinda surprised since Mahavishnu's fairly popular/big. Seems like the least publicized album release of all time. =\
Anyone hear (of) it? Any thoughts? I think we had a couple of M.O fans here if I remember.

I do like some of their material, but I would certainly not be an expert on their music. Don't really know much about them. I do like JMcL's solo material.

You can't deny that John is a great artist and eventhough i must admit i prefer his solo career and his work with Shakti i still think M.O made some pretty good stuff from time to time.

I sampled this on amazon and it is a good representation of the original band live. I was lucky to see them three times and this release would be on my buy list if it were available as a CD, but I've only found it as a download.

Yeah, it seems to be a download only album which is kinda lame. But what can you do? I'm still surprised the thing even exists.
I'm more of a Shakti kinda guy myself, but lately I've really been getting into the original M.O and appreciating it significantly more than I used to for whatever reason. John's done some pretty fantastic stuff over his career.
