Two months after they announced their separation, Zooey Deschanel and her husband of two years, Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard, have officially filed for divorce.
According to People magazine, the 31-year-old 'New Girl' star filed the documents with L.A. County Superior Court on Dec. 27, listing their date of separation as Oct. 31, and citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their divorce.
Deschanel was interviewed by People recently about the split, revealing only she and the 35-year-old Death Cab singer, whom she married in Sept. 2009, were ending their marriage on good terms.
"We're friendly," she told People. "It's all fine."
Deschanel is currently starring in Fox's Golden Globe-nominated sitcom 'New Girl,' and recently released a Christmas album with She and Him, her musical project with M. Ward. Meanwhile, Gibbard has also been hard at work promoting Death Cab for Cutie's Grammy-nominated seventh album 'Codes and Keys.'
"It was mutual and amicable," a source told Us Weekly, regarding the split. "There was no third party involved."
