Hi all - with regard to 'Isolated Genre'
As stated above I can't let this one go. You can freeze this thread once I am done with this single post.
To the person from Zimbabwe - your statement reads as follows
'Not proselyting. We're atomizing the umbrella term "music" to deduce the integrated elements it comprises. Back-masking is an element of music, isn't it? Why then should you threaten fellow members for assessing this element, that's dictatorship! I live in Africa where we exercise freedom of speech & religion.'
Isn't that a case of the pot calling the kettle black? You live in the worst dictatorship in the world. I too am from Africa and have travelled many countries on that continent from Egypt to South Africa and a whole lot inbetween as well, including your country. Africa is the continent with the least amount of freedom of speech in the world. If you don't believe me try taking the wrong turn out of the Golf Club in Harare and driving past Mugabe's house by mistake and see what happens to you. By the way what's Zimbabwe's inflation rate these days?

All of which reminds me of Bob Dylan's lyrics
'Freedom is just around the corner for you
But with truth so far off what good would it do?'
If only the 40,000 slaughtered Matabele people could talk I am sure they would tell you all about 'freedom of speech'

Can I just say Jerome that I did not freeze the thread to freeze you or any comments you might make on it .................I froze it so that we did not give anyone else the chance to feel that MD was a place other than for Music Discussion..................I have left the member who started to express his views, on matters other than music, on MD because I realise that they might be in differing circumstances to ours in the places where we are in the world.
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!
It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown..............................Chris Simpson ( "Mixed Up Sensations" 1975 Martin's Cafe )

No sweat Gryphon, I don't mind if you delete my thread (or anyone else's for that matter), I just wanted to set the record straight. I have seen many of these places first hand and I know that a blanket statement that Africa is the home of the 'free' is a complete lie. I do however agree that we should not use this forum to express political or religious views. That is not it's function but I felt I had to say something about that post. Probably should have just shut up. As a final note on the subject if Zimbabwe has this so-called freedom of speech why did Mugabe have the printing presses demolished?
And I apologize to all MD members if you feel I am out of line but this nonsense has been going on for years without any indication that it is going to improve. Many poeple suffer on a daily basis because of self-serving dictators all over the world not just Africa, but let's be under no illusions here. Africa has the lion's share of them. Enough said. Time out.
