GOTYE "making mirrors" 2011.
Gotye(pronounced Go-T-yeah).
this is the third album from Aussie multi-instrumentalist Wally De Backer and well worth a listen.
not sure if his previous efforts have been released worldwide or just here in the land down under?
there's elveven tracks on here, the first few and the last couple have definate shades of Peter Gabriel and Midge Ure's earlier material...in that the music is quite sparse, moody and atmospheric, the albums music rises a couple of notches in the middle with a couple of motown/soul based tracks.
the music contains all the usual suspects in guitar, bass, drums, percussion etc but there is also an added element of ominchords, wine glasses, bells, music boxes, banjo's,flutes, horns, cello's, harp etc to give a more ecclectic feel to the album.
and is a pleasant mix of of sounds and lyrics from a truly modern unique artist.
i implore you to listen to the links....you wont be dissapointed, i guarentee it!!!
