jessie j is killing the music game today, well deserved, since shes been writing music for so long and so are the black eyed peas still doing it until this day, they've been working since the 90's
jessie j is such a great role model, i take her lyrics to the heart as a fellow mandem haha
what do you guys think? who is killing it in pop music, and who really deserves it?

Pop's not really a big thing for me, but GaGa seems to be cleaning up at the moment. She may not be the most talented performer around, but she's definitely pretty astute.
Rihanna's stuff is occasionally interesting, but don't go to her for any depth...

I'm not very into this particular genre of music, but Bruno Mars is an exception for me.
His lyrics are powerful. In everyone of his songs that I've heard, I can relate to at least one line somewhere in there. And whats great about him, is that he's not flawless. That would be boring. And he knows he's not perfect, therefore he's not stuck up. He's modest. And he's felt heart ache and love, just like everyone else. He's a human being, not a God. And his music is pretty down to Earth. So yeah, he's quite a good influence if you ask me. But thats just my person opinion.

Most of today's music scene sucks but there is a up side to today's music scene. The old roots of music is coming back is Old School R&B soul singing from Adele, Bruno Mar's great piano skills, B.o.B, and etc. Jessie J and Kesha are Lady Gaga Wannabes. Trust me, I mean when I hear those two, I hear Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga is so overrated. She can never reach Madonna's status. Plus so many people think Gaga is a Madonna wannabe and that is not good because soon people will turn of Gaga if this Gaga is a Madonna clone continues. The problem with the music scene are in my view, T-Pain copycats and Lady Gaga copycats.

I've been trying to keep up with what's going on in the underground circles lately, but frankly most of it is so derivative of what was going in underground circles before. Take the indie band Yuck, who garned a lot of hype, for example, they sound EXACTLY like Dinosaur Jr. And don't even get e started on ******* Beach House. I guess everything that culd have been done in these circles has already been done. Pretty depressing thought
As for mainstream, it's always been fairly substantial imo

It's very difficult to be original these days ! Sometimes I get 'bored' with new music and say to myself ...nothing new here ...I've heard it all before !...except for ANATHEMA....original sound IMV !!!!
