Over the past few years I have been reading quite a few books on the backgrounds of major artists.
One thing seems quite central to all .........they are eccentric !
Is this a major requirement to be one?

Yes, maybe it's that old parallel between genius and insanity that's at play.
Disproportionate numbers of troubled comedians spring to mind as well...

Eccentricity is determined by ones perception I think.
To me, anyone that covets the spotlight, would be eccentric.
To others I may be considered eccentric, as I am a hermit.
Not as in hermit the frog, but a loner.

i agree with MH...being eccentric is dependant on 'ones' perception,whether its collecting things or doing things.
im pretty much a loner who would rather spend money on a new cd than a new pair of shoes...or food, does that make me eccentric, i dunno, but im happy and dont hurt anyone.
