I've been thinking about something we don't have as such but we could think about
MD Classic Album recommendations !
I think it might work a bit like this :
- A member nominates an album that they consider to be a classic.
- They might want to explain a bit as to why they think it is a classic and why it might deserve a recommendation for the MD Classic album library.begins a thread called
Classic album nomination xxxxxxxxxxxx
- Other members are then free to either vote to support this recommendation or not as they feel fit........
- If the recommendations pass a certain threshold say 5 ( we can work on that later ) then it passes into the MD Classic album library along with its nomination write up.
- The MD classic album library would need to be a section of the forum with its own heading a bit like the genre headings or album review .
- Now if the nominations reach 5 It could carry a bronze recommendation
- If 10 Then a silver
- If 15 a gold
- and if 20+ a platinum .
What do we think ?:wink:

fine idea Gryphon,
but as there are so many classic albums to list since,say, the birth of rock 'n' roll in 1954, it may be a good idea to seperate it into decades, that way in the future when members want to browse what has been posted,they can go straight to the "60s" or "80s" etc.
to cover all music there should also be a "pre-rock 'n' roll" section to encompass everything before 1950.

I have been around most people with this one and we seem to be broadly in agreement.
I think Ed is OK with the idea but I'm not sure if no reply is OK I hope it is .
Seems to me that we need to do this
We need a extra forum called " MD: Classic Album Recommendations" Within that forum we need some sub fora ( Nominations , 50/60s 70/80s and 90 plus)
We need a written bit for the forum board and a guide thread.....I guess I can suggest something here
I spoke with Anthony and he is happy with it .
However he has internet problems but says that Ed or Tiggi could set up the forum ( I hope I understand the correctly) .
So, I guess if we do this and stick with he boundaries of 5, 10, 15 etc to start with

Sorry for the late reply.
I tend to read things, then want to think before I respond, then forget about it.
I do think this is an excellent idea.
My only suggestion would be to have a way to limt the nominees to maybe once a week, and by different members.
Not sure how that would work.
Hoping Tiggi will do the setting up part, with some guidelines.
