I'm new at this so I hope I'm asking in the right place... Does anyone know who is playing with Waters on the wall tour that is comming up? I tried to find out on the net, but didn't get anywhere.

This from Roger's Facebook page:
OK. Here’s the band…….All good men and true. Five new faces. G.E.Smith (guitar) Robbie Wyckoff (lead singer, doing all David’s old bits), and Jon Joyce who worked with me in 1980 and 1990 is joined on BVs by the Lennon cousins, Michael, Mark, and Kipp. The rest of the band you already know, Graham Broad (Drums), Dave Kilminster and Snowy White (Guitars), Jon Carin and Harry Waters (Keyboards). Can’t wait to get into rehearsals. Sadly, no female BVs in THE WALL, Katie, Pat, Carol, Sylvia we shall miss you! Love Roger The Wall Live Drums: Graham Broad Guitars: Dave Kilminster G.E. You're welcome.
Are you going to see the show ?? How does the list measure up against what you were expecting ??

Yes, my beautiful wife scored us a pair of tickets in row 9, opening night at the ACC in Toronto. (a birthday present for moi! ) No real surprises in the lineup exept the new BVs. I found out that Q107 ( local Toronto radio station) ran a special 2 hour broadcastt with Roger shortly after announcing the tour. I haven't had a chance to see if it is archived on Q107.com yet. Could be what I'm doing on tuesday.

I expect a full report in due course...
I'm hoping to get tickets for the UK gigs. Also saw the original Floyd shows twice in London, so it'll be interesting to see how it compares.

I envy you Tiggi! The original show with the original band, nothing less than awesome no doubt! I have seen the Berlin version with Waters et al on DVD. If it is that good I will be quite pleased. If you haven't seen it yet you should check it out for yourself. There are a few surprise guests involved ( at least they were surprises for me because I didn't read the sleeve and I didn't here many details of that particular show. So I suppose it is time to ask you the question. Would Pink Floyd have survived without Gilmour but with Waters or would history have been the same?

I was 16 when I saw my first Wall show, and it blew me to pieces. They played again the following year to get some film for the forthcoming movie - which was never used - so I managed to see the show again.
I am familiar with the Berlin show, but it's always left me a bit cold. Spectacular, certainly, but a little disjointed with the frequent vocalist changes. It's not on DVD, but the live Is There Anybody Out There ? album would be my preferred live version. Regarding the Waters/Gilmour question, I'm firmly in the Waters camp. DG is a brilliantly talented guitarist & a good singer IMV, but he can't write songs. The creative writer was always Waters, and whilst he can't sing at all his vocals are full of character. On balance, guitarists are easier to replace than song-writers - especially one as strong as Waters - as Waters' previous tours have demonstrated, where he's used a string of excellent guitarists who have done a good job of emulating DG. So comparing Waters' solo work with the Pink-Floyd-lite albums released under the band name, I'd have to opt for the Waters stuff as the most Floyd-like. As to whether the band would have survived with Waters remaining, I doubt it. By the time of the split, he'd fired the fragile Richard Wright, and by all accounts was every bit the ego-maniac "Rock Star" arsehole, so I think solo status was inevitable sooner or later... BTW the fave quote on your profile is familiar from the Take no Prisoners live album, which I've always loved to bits...

Managed to book tickets today for the O2 Arena in London, for next May 12th.
They conducted an RW website pre-sale, which means we have good seats, and the ticket prices - whilst expensive - weren't excessive IMV. Hurrah !!

Good stuff Tiggi! I think this will be the show that defines the decade, especially for us "non spring chickens". I'll be looking forward to your comparison with the original shows.
