Canada, get ready: a few "Old Friends" are heading your way. Legendary folk duo Simon & Garfunkel have announced a string of arena dates that will take them to the northern parts of North American, kicking off in Vancouver on April 29. Dates will mostly take place in Canada, with a handful of cities seeing the duo for the first time in their storied career. Songs from the Simon & Garfunkel catalog will be featured alongside selections from both artists' solo careers.

That's not to say that the U.S. is getting shut out. After the duo's first appearance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on April 24, they'll hit Fargo, N.D. on May 7, St. Paul, Minn. on May 8, Madison, Wisc. on May 9 and Detroit on May 11.

Tickets for most dates are on sale on March 12 and 13 with the exception of the Fargo show which is on sale now.

In 2009, Simon & Garfunkel toured in Australia, New Zealand and Japan and more recently, appeared alongside Bruce Springsteen, U2 and Eric Clapton at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 25th Anniversary Concert at Madison Square Garden. But the last time North American audiences got the duo together for proper shows was during the wildly successful "Old Friends" tour, that ran for two months in 2003 and an encore month in 2004. Those shows led a double live album and DVD called "Old Friends: Live on Stage." There most recent release is "Live 1969," which culled together 15 unreleased performances from their November 1969 tour.

Here are Simon & Garfunkel's tour dates:

April 24: New Orleans, La. (Jazz & Heritage Festival)
April 29: Vancouver, BC (General Motors Place)
May 1: Edmonton, AB (Rexall Place)
May 2: Calgary, AB (Pengrowth Saddledome)
May 4: Saskatoon, SK (Credit Union Centre)
May 5: Winnipeg, MB (MTS Centre)
May 7: Fargo, N.D. (Fargodome)
May 8: St. Paul, Minn. (Xcel Energy Center)
May 9: Madison, Wisc. (Kohl Center Arena)
May 11: Detroit (TBA)
May 12: Toronto (Air Canada Centre)
May 14: Ottawa, ON (Scotiabank Place)
May 15: Montreal (Bell Centre)

Saw Art in Dublin & Paul in Cape Town (Graceland tour). Never seen them together live. Paul recently appeared on Oprah with a great new track he wrote - worth a listen and the only time in the show that there weren't a thousand hysterical screaming women going beserk all the time. This hysteria crap on television is really getting out of hand.

And I cannot stomach Ellen Degenerate. All that stupid posing and dancing and a show filled with nothing but pure utter rubbish. Of course the studio audience are only there for the freebies or to get noticed. Television will eat itself.

We were supposed to get Simon and Garfunkel here last year and they cancelled ???? Now it looks like we won't be getting them at all this year in Halifax Dartmouth.....that's a shame !

Deep Purple remake band and Prince already here (Didn't go..too much moula) and Tom Petty yet to come as far as concerts over or up here so far this year.
The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!

My favourite track by them - it captures what they were about - a statement on the American culture and all that goes with that. Good and bad.
