Past Their Prime

Nominate a group or individual artist that should have hung it up before they started embarassing themselves. Obviously there are many that fall into this category. List however many you wish, but include your primary candidate at the top.

Mine is no contest

Paul McCartney!!Cool
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown.

Rather surprised at this nomination. Saw Sir Paul back in the fall on a broadcast of his Shea Stadium concert which was last summer I think. Thought he sounded really good. Now if we are talking about his work with the Firemen, I would probably agree, as that material is really weak. But as a solo act I think he's still got it.

My nod for second place has to be the Who. Haven't been a fan since Entwistle passed. Not because I was a big fan of his. Just the way Pete handled the incident. On the road and the guy that was with you from the start dies, and you just carry on as if nothing happened. Disrespect imo.

Think it's The Who for me as well.

The irony in a band who made My Generation appearing on stage as pensioners is not lost on me. Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against ageing musicians (In fact I'd probably quite enjoy seeing The Stones live again), but Daltrey with his glasses on, looking as if he needs a zimmer frame, leaves me cold.

They'll be performing wearing cardigans & slippers soon...

Good topic.

In my experience, the worst ones are usually the ones they group together on PBS during pledge drives based on themes like doo-wop, disco, psychedelia, Motown, etc.

I'm a bit uncomfortable that Bruce is still doing the blue-collar angst thing and giving political speeches to his flock, but he's at my end of the spectrum so I try to hold my ears, look the other way, and hope he drums up a few votes. I was never a fan anyway, though.
