MICHAEL KIWANUKA ~ Small Changes

Another Danger Mouse production - they seem to work well together and it feels like Kiwanuka has really come into his own. I watched a clip of him talking about the making of this album and he is refreshingly open, direct, deep thinking and unpretentious. Sincere. I've been listening to the album over the past week (not continuously, but now and then) and it sits with you, I find. Deceptively simple, subtle and well crafted. No fireworks and a pretty even tone throughout which at first seemed a bit bland but then you start understanding the nuances more and more, and suddenly, the whole thing is a lovely warm package that gets you into a different, better headspace. I hope he stays humble and gentle. The man has a LOT of soul. We could use a few more Michael Kiwanuka's in the world IMHO!
