'Criminials' was a scrapped song that was meant to feature on her 2020 album 'Treat Myself,' which was revived later to feature on the deluxe version of her 2024 album 'Timeless' before being featured in the Netflix series 'The Perfect Couple' and bouncing it into fame; she deserves none of it. Meghan is known for making pop songs that are as impressive as a Happy Meal, but this really showcases that she's out of ideas; lyrically, this is the same thing Trainor's been pushing for ages. The lines speak about a romantic relationship and how it feels good (in a naughty way), but this falls face-first, trying to make a mark on music that only Meghan can. It's too simple and Any part, such as the guitar, fails to even get noticed and is faded into the song; the backing vocals don't supply any needed umph to the song and leave it as the money-making cow it is; there's just success, not originality.
