Deezer listen.
his fifth real album,
seventh if you count the two albums of covers he made last year covering his own songs...
this one is about Dood and Juanita (he, the son of a miner, she, a Shawnee Indian who are seperated during the Civil War)...
songs are strictly traditional bluegrass and finger pickin' banjo stuff...
Willie appears on one track (Juanita) complete with flamenco sounds and spanish guitars which gives it an almost "seven spanish angels" feel to it,
in fact the album has a classic Willie Nelson feel to it and is comparable in class and style to his own "red headed stranger" album.
i dont use this word often but IMO this album borders the term 'masterpiece' for the genre.
it really is Sturgill Simpson playing to his strengths without fail.
the best new release i have listened to this year so far bar none!
